Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Academic Administration and Finance, the incumbent provides administrative and clerical support to the Department of Germanic Languages. The incumbent communicates, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels, including students, faculty, scholars and visitors and refers non-routine inquiries to appropriate staff or faculty.


Responsibilities

  • Acts as the first point of contact for the academic department, performing front-facing general reception with an on-site presence including answering phones, handling walk-ins, responding to emails, and managing our social media presence
  • Assists students and faculty with course and program needs 
  • Assists the DAAF with hiring/payroll/financial transactions and acts as the initiator in the University financial and human resources processing systems, which require two-person approval
  • Assists the DAAF with the management and scheduling of Deutsches Haus and department special events and programming
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested. 

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of University setting preferred.
  • Some experience typing, editing, proofreading, and translating correspondence from English to German and German to English.

    Other Requirements
  • Microsoft Office, Email, Scanning, Basic Internet Search.
